Lymphoma is cancer that forms in the lymphatic system, which helps your body fight infection. This system includes your lymph nodes, spleen and tonsils. Symptoms may include fatigue, sweating at night and swollen lymph nodes.

Generally, experts classify lymphomas into two main types. We treat:

Hodgkin lymphoma

Hodgkin lymphoma, sometimes called Hodgkin disease, is a highly curable cancer that is more common in adults.

There are two types of Hodgkin lymphoma - classic and nodular lymphocyte - predominant. Doctors examine blood and lymph node tissue under a microscope to learn the lymphoma type and level of cancer growth (stage).

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma usually begins in the B lymphocytes. This lymphoma can be slow growing (indolent) or fast growing (aggressive).

There are several different types of indolent and aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Our specialists use specific tests to confirm the lymphoma type and stage.

Our experts begin with a physical examination. Depending on your symptoms, we might do certain tests to diagnose lymphoma, including:

  • Blood chemistry tests
  • Bone marrow aspiration and biopsy
  • Genetic testing
  • Imaging tests
  • Lymph node biopsy

Our experts design blood cancer treatments to meet your unique needs. Your specific treatment plan depends on the type of lymphoma and its stage. We also consider your health and age.

Your doctor may recommend cancer treatments such as:

  • Chemotherapy
  • Immunotherapy
  • Plasmapheresis
  • Radiation therapy
  • Targeted therapy
  • Stem cell transplant
  • Surgery
