Learn more about the surgeries we offer:

This procedure, also known as CABG (pronounced "cabbage") surgery, creates a new artery in your heart for blood to flow freely, bypassing the blocked artery. It treats coronary artery disease.

Your doctor:

  1. Removes a healthy blood vessel from another part of your body (usually a leg or arm)
  2. Attaches it to a healthy artery above or below your blockage

When possible, we offer robotic-assisted bypass surgery. It uses smaller incisions, which helps speed your recovery.

This open-chest procedure treats people who have A-fib and also need a heart valve procedure or coronary artery bypass graft (see above).

Using ablation, your doctor cuts patterns into your heart tissue. The patterns create scar tissue that blocks your irregular electrical impulses and corrects your abnormal heartbeat. Then your doctor repairs or replaces your diseased valve.

If our surgeons determine that a minimally invasive heart valve replacement is not right for you, they will recommend an open-heart approach. They'll replace your diseased valve with a new one, either a mechanical (manmade) or biological (tissue) valve. If your new valve is mechanical, you’ll take an anticoagulant medication regularly to prevent blood clots.

An LVAD is a mechanical circulatory support device that helps failing hearts pump blood. The device supports a weakened heart until a heart transplant is possible.

You can also use an LVAD long-term if you do not want a transplant, or you are unable to have one.

During this open-heart surgery, your surgeon removes part of your septal wall that has thickened due to cardiomyopathy. The septal wall separates your heart's upper chambers. Removing this thickened section helps improve your blood flow.
During a heart transplant, your heart surgeon replaces your heart with a heart from a donor. We were the first healthcare system in Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina to perform heart transplants.
Our heart experts and oncologists routinely participate in research and clinical trials. Please learn more at 果冻视频 Research Center.
